Supporting Academic and Social Enrichment

Emmaus House is committed to providing access to high-quality enrichment programs that support academic achievement for children in our neighborhood.

Our program is based on research indicating the following:

  • Arts education positively impacts the cognitive, behavioral, and social outcomes of children and adolescents

  • Visual arts students report significantly higher school attainment than those who do not have access to arts education

  • Arts education supports the development of critical problem solving skills and boosts achievement in Math and English Language Arts

Who we serve

The Arts Club at BaMO is open students of the Barack and Michelle Obama Academy. Most of these students come from low-income homes and lack access to adequate opportunities for out-of-school enrichment in art. Emmaus House has partnered with BaMO to ensure that students living in Peoplestown and surrounding communities have access to high quality enrichment experiences.

The fall Arts Club at BaMO program takes place weekly throughout each school semester.
