Supporting Academic and Social Enrichment

Emmaus House is committed to providing access to high-quality enrichment programs that support academic achievement for children in our neighborhood.

Our program is based on research indicating the following:

  • Arts education positively impacts the cognitive, behavioral, and social outcomes of children and adolescents

  • Visual arts students report significantly higher school attainment than those who do not have access to arts education

  • Arts education supports the development of critical problem solving skills and boosts achievement in Math and English Language Arts

Who we serve

The Saturday Arts program will be open to students in the Emmaus House neighborhood. Most of these students come from low-income homes and lack access to adequate opportunities for out-of-school enrichment in art. Emmaus House wants to ensure that students living in Peoplestown and surrounding communities have access to high quality enrichment experiences.

The Saturday Arts program will begin in January 2020 and will take place weekly throughout the school year.
