5 Ways to Support Young Scholars

Families want to see their children thrive—socially, emotionally, and academically.

To kick off this new school year, here are a few simple ways families can support their young scholars’ learning at home:

  • Create a Consistent Study Space: Set aside a quiet, comfortable area with basic supplies where your child knows it is time to focus.

  • Talk About Their Day: Ask open-ended questions like "What was the most interesting thing you learned today?" to generate excitement and help them process what they’ve learned.

  • Establish Daily Reading Time: Reserve 15 to 20 minutes each day to read together or independently, allowing them to choose reading materials they enjoy wherever possible.

  • Maintain a Routine: Consistent bedtimes and morning schedules ensure children arrive at school rested, energized, and ready to absorb new ideas.

  • Partner With Teachers: Check in regularly to see how your child is doing and brainstorm specific ways you can support their educational journey at home.

Connected Support

Studies show childhood academic achievement is one of the strongest predictors of economic stability, career mobility, and overall health as adults, and schoolwork is a critical part of that journey. For students to get the most out of their studies, however, they require overlapping systems of support that connect their school learning with their home and social lives.
